GameDesignSchools.net helps future game designers, developers, programmers and artists find and compare degree programs in the United States — from a first BFA or BS to an MFA, an MS or a game-focused PhD, on campus or online. You can browse by degree level, field of study, state and delivery, filter by campus attendance, portfolio policy and tuition basis, and compare up to four programs side by side without creating an account.

What we are — and are not

We are an independent directory. We are not a school, an accrediting agency, a recruiter or an application service, and we do not decide admissions. Apply directly on each school's official website. Nothing on this site is a promise about admission, employment or earnings.

How the directory is built

We list a degree only after confirming its exact title and award on the school's own pages, and only when the degree itself — or an officially named concentration — is about games. Game design, game development, game programming, game art, game-focused interactive media and game studies are kept as separate fields. Each fact carries the official page it came from and the date we checked it; a script re-fetches every page and publishes a fact only when its quote is still found. Editorial independence

Directory pages are not rankings. Our two Top selections follow a published methodology and are not numbered. Schools can buy clearly labelled sponsored placements; payment never changes facts, selections, verification status or the order of results. See the sponsorship disclosure.

Coverage

Coverage is partial and growing. We started with a bounded set of institutions researched in depth and add more through the same verification workflow. If an eligible game degree is missing, tell us about it; if something is wrong, suggest an update.
